About TextRuler

TextRuler is a free image and PDF to text tool (OCR). It uses Tesseract.js (Apache-2.0), the browser version of the open-source Tesseract OCR engine, and PDF.js (Apache-2.0) from Mozilla. Everything runs in your browser.

Honest limits. Tesseract is built for printed text. It is good with clear scans and screenshots, weaker with angled phone photos and decorative fonts, and generally not reliable for handwriting. It extracts text, not page layout.

Who is behind it. TextRuler is published by Ecomparadise, LLC and edited by Alex. We build small, single-purpose tools, test them in real browsers, and explain plainly what they can and cannot do.
